A poor mindset can ruin your life

One thing you need to consider in your life is that your mindset has a large part in determining your quality of life.

And your mindset is mainly affected by your mental habits.

So if we were to be lazy and shortcut the formula, our mental habits affect our quality of life.

Meaning self-destructive mental habits can affect your mindset. Which goes on to affect how you view yourself, how you view the world, how you view challenges, etc.

And the extremely sad part is that when you have a poor mindset, nothing in the world can help you.

No books.

No motivational speakers.

No how to do X webinars.

Only you can help yourself.

If you think I’m exaggerating, I’ll tell you some of the things I noticed when I used to tutor high school kids in math.

Some kids would come into my tutor sessions thinking that math was very hard. So hard that they thought they would never understand math. But as a tutor, the student would never tell me this directly. And I needed to know how their mindset was, otherwise I would be wasting my time trying to teach them.

So to test what kind of mindset they had, I would ask them a very simple question like 25 + 25. And if they stumbled, I knew they had a poor mindset for math. It was pointless in teaching them until I corrected their mindset.

Once the students had their mindset recalibrated, then the rest of the lesson would be a lot better.

The same applies to us, we need to recalibrate our mindsets.

And the way to do that is to be conscious of our mental habits.

We need to be mindful of our social media consumption, our Netflix consumption, thinking about the past, thinking about the future, etc.

Any mental habit that takes us away from the immediate present is harmful in the long run.

Mind you, we don’t have to go monk mode, but we can be more conscious of the negative mental habits.

Once you find that balance of having good mental habits, you need to ensure that you maintain it.

Like anything in life, you don’t stop once you reach a goal.

Instead, you have to make it a part of your lifestyle so that you can continue it for the rest of your life.

You only have one life to live.

So get the best mental habits to get the best mindset to live your best life.
